Thanks for stopping by. I'm Tim Colwell, President of Lincoln Hardwood and Tool Company, Inc. I've always had a passion for woodworking, this passion has driven me to start a Woodworking Store and provide eastern Nebraska with the best in woodworking tools and quality wood products that gives the woodworking community a place to procure the necessary items to perform their hobbies and trades effectively.

Thanks for a Great Show Gary and Tom!!!

We would like to thank Mr. Gary Katz, and the "backbone" of the operation Mr. Tom Brewer, for putting on such a tremendous show at Lincoln Hardwood and Tool Company; Home of Festool Junkie.  The community response was outstanding, as well as many who traveled for hours in their vehicles to see the show.  We had people from Scottsdale, AZ, Fort Smith AR, many from Kansas, South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota.  The attendance peaked just fewer than 200 people.  I am not sure how much work was done in Lincoln, NE Monday; and a huge thanks to all those who attended.

Gary, in his usual fashion delivered a flawless show.  With Tom behind the scenes how could he go wrong.  It was impressive for me to see High School Students, and College Students locked onto Gary and the screen in front of them.  Gary's message of "Honoring Your Craft" is powerful.  The paradigms that used to be in place have changed drastically.  No longer is the craft handed down from Master to Apprentice; most "guys and gals" in the field have had to either learn on their own, and all too often, taught themselves improper methods of work.  I asked many of our attendees if they learned anything new, and not one said "NO."  There were quite a few that were already working Gary's methods from watching his video series, or surfing over to Gary's online magazine "This Is Carpentry"; but, to see him in person, and get real time instruction.

Travis Nelson of Nelson and Sons Construction said, "The biggest thing I learned was room layout.  The amount of time I will save with the Stabila laser measurer is huge!"

Jason Kirsch of Construction Finishes LLC said, "Screw the manual Kreg K3 jig, order me a Foreman."

I am so happy that EVERYONE walked away with something to change their method work to make them faster and working smarter.  Whether it be a new tool, a new idea, a different approach to marketing, SOMETHING was learned by all who I talked to.

I came away with several Powerful concepts delivered by Gary:

Gary drove home the fact that we all need to be craftsmen.  Know terminology, know how wood reacts to different environments, use the proper tools, follow the path of least resistance (i.e. Don't turn your trim over, work the trim one direction, and swivel your saw).

Gary and Tom had dinner at my home, and started the session with this idea, "Ya Gotta Keep Your Eyes Open!"  I live in a home that was built in 1940.  Evidently when Gary had to use our restroom, he was noticing the molding that cased our doors.  He said nothing while we were out on the patio, but at the show mentioned that I have this "multiple bead build up molding with this tiny little plinth block at the bottom."  He had never seen molding like that.  As craftsmen we need to keep our eyes open all the time to notice these little things that will separate you from the rest of the pack that just have a shingle hanging.

But the most important discussion came when Gary was explaining to the group the importance of making your employees feel good about themselves and the work they are doing for you....the owner.  All too often, a "boss" will allow failure to prove a point, and to "have the employee learn the hard way" like they did.  That is just not right!  Teach, Coach, Set your employees up for success rather than failure.  To me, that was the biggest and most powerful statement of the show.

Thanks again Gary and Tom!  We are truly grateful for you choosing little ol Lincoln, NE for a show, and you are welcome here anytime.  The Grill and our Patio is always open.

Also a special thanks to Lignomat moisture meters..  They just came on-board with Gary, and WOW, talk about service.  We are definitely taking on the line!!!!  Thanks Lignomat

And, to Reechcraft (not involved with the Katz Show) for allowing us to take on the Bronco's.  These are tremendous tools for roofers, siding guys, painters, you name it.  If you work on uneven surfaces, and nees support....this is a must have.
